ASA Pro/AM Archery Competition Returns to Foley This Week

FOLEY, Ala. —Foley Sports Tourism (FST) will hold its biggest event of the year today through Sunday, Feb. 25 at the Graham Creek Nature Preserve with the McKenzie ASA Pro/Am hosted by Hoyt Archery. The event is expected to draw more than the almost 1,900 shooters who competed in Foley last year.
“This is the first event of our 2018 season and everyone really enjoys the opportunity to come to Foley,” said Archery Shooters Association (ASA) president and tournament director Mike Tyrell. “We receive tremendous support from Foley Sports Tourism, the great folks at Graham Creek Nature Preserve and the entire city of Foley.”
More than $200,000 in prize money and contingency paybacks from archery companies is on the line.
Much of the money will be handed out at the FST Championship stadium Saturday, Feb. 24 at 5 p.m.
The ASA Pro Pressure Point Shoot Down is the final round for many of the divisions and checks are presented following each division competition. Spectators are invited to watch the competition and visit Graham Creek Nature Preserve each of the four days of the event.
“There will be more than 45 archery companies on hand displaying and in some cases selling the latest and greatest in archery and bow hunting equipment,” Tyrell said. “Local food vendors will be on hand and all the competition ranges are designed to be spectator friendly.”
David Thompson, Foley director of Recreation and Sports Tourism said, “This is an event that doesn’t just bring the best of the region or even the nation. The McKenzie ASA Pro/Am hosted by Hoyt Archery brings some of the best in the sport period. What our residents will get to see at this event is world-class and we’re so excited for the opportunity to share it with them.”
