Mobile Sports Authority Announces Upcoming Sports Events


MOBILE, Ala. — The Mobile Sports Authority (MSA) recently completed another successful year by hosting 29 sports events and generating an estimated $22.5 million for the Mobile area economy.

“Since Fiscal 2012, the MSA has attracted, hosted, managed, or co-managed 189 sporting events which have generated an estimated $131 million in economic impact for Mobile County,” said Danny Corte, executive director of MSA. “The future continues to look bright as we’re constantly engaging sports event owners about coming to play in our beautiful area.”

In addition to events already held this year, upcoming sporting events include the Alabama High School Athletic Association South Sectional Swim and Dive Meet at the Fredericka G. Evans Cultural Centre on Nov. 16-17; The Gulf Coast Clash, Nov. 16-17 at the Mobile Civic Center Arena where high school wrestling teams will compete in this inaugural event; and the Youth Holiday Bowl National Championship at Herndon Sage Park, Nov. 16-18 in a post-season youth football event where youth ages 5-14 will compete in their divisions for rankings, rings and an official invite to the Pro Football Hall of Fame Regionals.

In September, the inaugural Gulf Coast Challenge Powered by the Mobile Sports Authority was played at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. The game featuring Southern University versus Alabama A&M included week-long activities and attracted more than 23,000 fans.
