SportsEvents Magazine and S.P.O.R.T.S. The Relationship Conference invite everyone to celebrate National Youth Sports Week July 11-17.

Join thousands of people who are the driving force for youth sport nationwide as they focus on key elements for young athletes: physical activity, living healthy, access, youth development and safety (PLAYS)

The week is tailored to give youth sports organizations and events the opportunity to bring awareness to their programs and promote their organizations.

As part of the weeklong celebration, the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS) declares Tuesday, July 12 as NCYS Youth Sports Day.

NCYS and the Congressional Youth Sports Caucus will host a physical activity Expo in a House of Representatives Office Building on Capitol Hill Washington D.C.

The event will showcase how youth sports organizations and members of Congress can collaborate to promote healthy lifestyles for children and their families through sports.

The event features NCYS members and physical activity stations where members of Congress and their staff have the opportunity to play youth sports and learn about youth sports activities.

Specifically the Expo highlights the importance of PLAYS in youth sports following the National Council of Youth Sports legislative agenda.

The NCYS Youth Sports Day on Capitol Hill will features NCYS introducing its own Legislative Bill. The content is centered around coaching education, parenting education, reducing injuries, and safety in youth sports. Other components are appearances from members of the Congressional Youth Sports Caucus.

The NCYS advocates for legislation that promotes safe environments and healthy lifestyles for stronger neighborhoods and communities in order to enhance the youth sports experience in America for today and for generations to come.

National Youth Sports Week is a great chance for youth sports advocates to encourage your members and your community to promote your program and your event.

Here are some simple ways you can take advantage of National Youth Sports Week:

  • Contact your local media and ask for a story highlighting your organization or event.
  • Contact your elected officials and ask for an official proclamation recognizing the important role youth sports events play in promoting healthy lifestyles.
  • Contact your sponsors to seek funding for promotional bumper stickers or buttons or ribbons with a message about the importance of youth sports and physical activity for a lifetime.
  • Contact the parents, athletes, organization supporters to hold a special event such as gaining recognition at a sporting event, or hold a bowl-a-thon, or 5K run.

Spread the word on all the good and positive things youth sports brings to develop good character in a youngster and advance a community to a more wholesome American society!
