2018 USA JUDO SENIOR NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS TO BE HELD MAY 12-13 IN ROUND ROCK

WHO/WHAT: USA Judo will host its 2018 Senior National Championships May 12-13 in Round Rock.

“We are looking forward to bringing the 2018 USA Judo Senior National Championships to Round Rock,” USA Judo CEO Keith Bryant said. “The Round Rock Sports Center is one of the newer and nicer venues we’ve been to, and its open setting and other amenities are perfect for us to bring in several hundred of the top judo players in the United States for this national event.”

The word “judo” consists of two Japanese characters: “ju,” which means “gentle,” and “do,” which means “the way;” therefore, “judo” means “the way of gentleness.”

Judo is a dynamic combat sport that demands both physical prowess and great mental discipline. Beyond the development of physical prowess and athletic ability, judo students learn much more, including how to control their feelings, emotions and impulses though the judo moral code. They also learn about values of perseverance, respect, loyalty and discipline.

This is the first year USA Judo will hold its Senior National Championships in Round Rock.

“We are pleased that the location, flexibility and size of the Round Rock Sports Center makes for an ideal venue for the top judo players in the U.S. to compete for their national championships,” said Nancy Yawn, director of the Round Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau, a division of the City of Round Rock Sports Management and Tourism Department. “Judo is an exciting mixed-martial-arts sport. We hope all of the players, their families and spectators enjoy a full weekend of judo competition, and all of the good food, shopping and entertainment that Round Rock has to offer here in the Sports Capital of Texas!”
