SAN DIEGO, Calif. — The 2022 Donate Life Transplant Games announced that San Diego won the winning bid for the six-day festival that is expected to bring thousands of visitors.
The San Diego Tourism Authority and the Holiday Bowl Game Association submitted the bid for the event planned for July 29 – Aug. 3, 2022. The week-long festival includes 20 athletic and recreational competitions for transplant recipients and living donors. Events include track and field, basketball, pickleball, bowling, golf and other sports.
The events will be held at the UC San Diego campus.
The 2020 event has been rescheduled to July 16-21 in New Jersey with the opening ceremony scheduled at Prudential Center in Newark and other events at the Meadowlands complex.
Competition is open to anyone who has received an organ transplant, bone marrow donation and corneal tissue recipients.
