Panama City Beach Sports Complex Hires J.D. Wood as General Manager

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. — Panama City Beach Sports Complex spearheaded by Visit Panama City Beach and Sports Facilities Management (SFM), has hired J.D. Wood as general manager of one of the newest, premium sports tourism complexes in the country. Wood previously worked for a number of prestigious sports organizations, including the Dallas Sports Commission, the National Senior Games, and Texas A&M Athletics.

SFM led the nation-wide search and the sports tourism and recreation management firm said it is confident in Wood’s abilities to run the facility in Panama City Beach with a focus on youth and amateur travel sports.

The facility is expected to open May 2019 and will be a world-class outdoor sports complex catering to travel sports programs throughout the southeast. The project is located on 210 acres of land and is expected to be one of the largest complexes in the southeast with flexible turf and natural grass long fields and baseball diamonds. In addition to the 13 fields, there are plans to include dedicated training facilities, a unique “Vendor Row” with shops and restaurants, and two championship stadium fields that will seat 1,500 spectators.
