Selkirk Sport Pledges $50,000 in Incentives at 2018 US Open Pickleball Championships

HAYDEN, Idaho – As part of professional pickleball’s first-ever Player Incentive Pool Program, Selkirk Sport, the leading Pickleball paddle and accessories brand, today announced that $50,000 will be up for grabs to Team Selkirk members at the upcoming US Open Pickleball Championships, April 21-29, at East Naples Community Park in Naples, Florida. 

Selkirk Sport’s incentive pledge for the US Open is part of an overall $150,000 Selkirk Player Incentive Pool for 2018 that is offered to the brand’s ambassadors as a bonus to the tournament prize money for the top finishers in each respective professional Pickleball division, including singles, doubles and mixed doubles. Currently, a $3,500 top prize is on the line at the US Open, if a player wins the National Men’s, National Women’s or Mixed Open Division, while the runner-up in those respective divisions earns $2,000, with $500 going to the 3rd place finisher.

In 2017, to reinforce the Company’s commitment to investing in the growth of Pickleball at both the professional and grassroots levels, Selkirk Sport created the Incentive Pool Program.  As a result, throughout the 2018 season, starting with the US Open Pickleball Championships, the pool will be available to more than 100 Team Selkirk members, including Ty McGuffin, the #1 ranked Pickleball Player in the World; former Wimbledon Doubles Champion JoAnne Russell; 6-Time National Champion, Enrique “El Condor” Ruiz; and promising newcomer Kaitlyn Christian, a Professional Tennis Player and Emma Stone's Tennis Double in the Film “Battle of the Sexes,” among others.

“It’s refreshing to see the sport of Pickleball continue to gain momentum at both the professional and grassroots level,” said Mike Barnes, Operations Manager, Selkirk Sport.  “The US Open is the first major Championship of 2018, and we are thrilled to support our athletes and brand ambassadors, as they compete for championships at the highest level in the sport.”
